Description: Lucy Young was born around 1842 at a rancheria near Alderpoint and died in 1945 on the Round Valley Reservation north of Covelo where she had settled with her husband Sam Young. In a biography of her life, Frank Essene described her as three-fourths Lassik and one-fourth Hayfork Wintun. This photograph was taken in Zenia. She is pictured here with Jack French (Yellowjacket) and her granddaughter, Marie (last name was probably Clark). Marie's mother was Katie Clark, who is buried in the Blocksburg Cemetery.
