Heavy Snowfall

This information appeared in Andrew Genzoli's column in the Times-Standard.

1882 - 97 Years Ago

SNOWFALL IS HEAVY - Charley Hall of the Overland Stage Co., furnished the information that three days ago the snow was six feet deep at Bell Springs, and two feet deep at Blocksburg. The mail carriers are, as a consequence, having a rough time, and it is an impossibility to bring more than the letter pouches through on scheduled time. The impression has prevailed that no paper mail was being brought overland of date, but it is a mistaken one. If one of the growlers could fill the position of the mail carrier from Rattlesnake to Hydesville for a single trip just now, they would forever after hold their peace in regard to delayed mails.
